Planning a Destination Wedding?
There is no waiting period on Barbados. Couples can get married on the day they arrive, if they choose. To get their license they must have valid passports or the original or certified copies of their birth certificates. Additional paperwork if either person is divorced or widowed is required.
Application for a marriage license must be made by the bride and groom in person at the office of the Ministry of Home Affairs in Bridgetown between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday to Friday. When they file their application, couples must also present a letter from the Marriage Officer who has consented to perform the marriage ceremony.
The current license fee is $150BBD cash plus a $25BBD stamp fee. Separate fees are payable to the Court and to the Magistrate in respect of civil marriage ceremonies: on the beach, $350BBD; at the court $250BBD,
