Planning a destination wedding?

Couples must arrive 3 days before applying for their marriage license. Forms can be obtained from the Supreme Court building or Attorney General Office. Forms must be completed and signed in the presence of a Justice of the Peace. Documents requires by the bride and groom are proof of citizenship in the form of a valid passport or original birth certificate with valid photo I.D. Photocopies of the picture page of passports and proof of date of entry into Belize must be presented. Proof of marital status and a death or divorce certificate if applicable must be presented with the application form along with a marriage license fee of $100USD. All required documents must be presented to the general registry or Attorney General. Normal approval time is 1 week after the receipt of all documents. 

Two witnesses are required for legal ceremonies in court. Couples can marry in archaeological reserves such as Maya Ruins. If this is desires, the couple must fax a letter requesting permission one week before the ceremony to the Commissioner of Archaeology.
