Feel the love in Bermuda.

Reasons to Recommend

Bermuda consists of around 180 islands and islets. Its many coastlines are characterized by small bays with beaches of fine pale pink coral sand, unique to this colonial island and surrounding vivid blue-green waters. Inland is an abundance of subtropical plants and flowers, interspersed with quaint pastel cottages.

Bermuda’s British heritage and classic traditions offer great appeal for to-be-weds, honeymooners and vacationers alike. The easy legal process welcomes nuptials. Vacation worry-free, as all members of the Bermuda Hotel Association honour a “Hurricane Guarantee,” allowing you to cancel or re-book in the case of a rarely occurring hurricane.

Setting the Scene

Bermuda’s trademark slogan, “Feel the Love” is apparent the moment you step onto its shores. This island oasis offers a rich romantic history, unparalleled sophistication and breathtaking views.  A perfect backdrop can be found at every corner from beautiful beaches to exotic gardens and historic buildings. If you seek religion and tradition, Bermuda has more churches per square kilometre than any other country. St. Peter’s Church is thought to be the oldest continually operating Anglican church in the Western hemisphere.

For idyllic views explore Astwood Cove, a small secluded beach surrounded by steep cliffs and home to many tropical birds. Experience the amazing sight from Gibbs’ Hill Lighthouse, the oldest cast iron lighthouse in the world or breathtaking sunsets at Horseshoe Bay Beach, the most popular beach in Bermuda.

Bermuda is ideal for destination weddings and honeymoons. Couples desiring a touch of glam with their island ambience can't do better than Bermuda, where romantic moon gates tucked into the landscape offer multiple opportunities for couples to be blessed with good luck.

While sailing along the coastline and into hidden coves is easily the most romantic way to while away an afternoon, Bermuda also draws strolling couples to its miles of pathways, such as the Railway Trail. In just over 20 square miles, Bermuda also has seven championship golf courses, a meticulously manicured paradise for couples who share a love of the links.

Planning a destination wedding?

Couples must file a Notice of Intended Marriage with the Registrar at least two weeks prior to the ceremony. The Registrar’s office then arranges for the notice to be published in two local newspapers. As long as there is no objection, the Registrar will issue the marriage license on day 15 after the application has been submitted and it will be valid for up to three months.

The form must be accompanied by a $267USD fee ($243 for license and $24 for marriage certificate) that can be paid via credit card, money order, cashier’s check or bank draft made payable to the Accountant General, Hamilton Bermuda. Personal cheques are not accepted.

Two weeks after receipt of the notice, the Registrar General may issue the marriage license. Once collected, it is valid for up to three months from the date of issue.

Forms can be obtained from the Office of the Registrar General in Bermuda. Forms are also downloadable from registrygeneral.gov.bm or, once contacted, the Bermuda Department of Tourism will mail the form to the couple.

Copies of final divorce decrees, as well as death certificates must accompany the Notice of Intended Marriage if applicable. Non-Bermudians who wish to marry in a Roman Catholic Church are considered on an individual basis.
