Bringing your wedding group or honeymoon plans to Dominican Republic is sure to provide an exceptional experience in a popular destination. A simple wedding process leaves only the decision of which of the island’s naturally beautiful locations to hold the ceremony. Celebrate your love in front of crystal clear waterfalls, historic sites or on world famous beaches.
Setting the Scene
The Dominican Republic is the Caribbean's most geographically diverse country, showcasing everything from tropical rainforests and alpine ranges to mangrove swamps and desert expanses. These natural gifts offer superb adventure travel and eco-tourism options, and mountain-bikers, trekkers and watersport enthusiasts are well catered for.
Surrounded by almost 250 miles of coastline, the island is famous for stretches of pristine white sand beach and the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean. Punta Cana and Puerto Plata offer lively sides of the island filled with culture, local cuisine and fantastic nightlife. Cayo Laventado, also known as Bacardi Island offers a more secluded space, while Rio Damajagua is home to 27 breathtaking waterfalls. For those who desire tradition, there are a variety of historic cathedrals and synagogues providing culture and authenticity to your special day or vacation experience.
Planning a destination wedding?
The only documents couples need to get married in the Dominican Republic are original birth certificates and valid passports as well as documents proving marital status.
The period of time needed to be in the country before the ceremony varies with each hotel, so couples should check with the wedding planner or hotel officials. Two witnesses with valid passports that are not blood related are also required at the ceremony.
