Planning a Destination Wedding?
Couples should allow for 2 months to complete all of the marriage licence requirements. If a resident lives outside of the US, a declaration of single status must be made before a Notary Public or other person authorized to administer paths in that country. This declaration must accompany the application. The following documents are required: valid passports, death or divorce certificates with a raised seal if applicable, results of blood tests conducted in Puerto Rico or on US mainland within 10 days of the ceremony. A Puerto Rico doctor must sign the license after conducting an examination of the bride and groom. Both partners must be at least 21 years of age or have parental consent.
All documents must be authenticated at the Marriage Licence Bureau. There is no license fee however, private ceremony or hotel fees average $150 - $300USD.
