BEST CRUISE LINES FOR YOUR SPECIAL DAY!
Princess Cruises- Princess is one of the best cruise lines to have a cruise wedding. They have custom “Tie the Knot” packages for the couple to choose from and most of their ships have their own wedding chapels onboard. Princess has 3 packages for customers to choose. One at sea (ceremony done in the open ocean and onboard), one harbor side (the ship is docked in a location and the ceremony is done onboard) and ashore (the ship is docked and ceremony is done on either the beach or a garden). Princess’ weddings are done usually by the captain, and at Princess, they can be broadcasted to friends and family who weren’t able to attend via webcast.
Celebrity Cruises- Celebrity captains can perform ceremonies except for the Xpedition ships, and as of last year, are now allowed to perform same-sex marriages at sea. Wedding packages with Celebrity include weddings performed at sea, in port or shore side. Couples that book the at sea package can also enjoy chocolate-covered strawberries, champagne, his-and-hers robes and floral arrangements and rose petals on their wedding night.
Disney Cruise Lines- Disney offers “Fairy Tale Wedding” packages on all four of their ships and can accommodate 8 guests plus the couple. Couples have the choice of having their ceremony on Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island in the Bahamas. The Disney wedding packages do not include a reception, there are additional charges. There are some stipulations around the marriage license, so make sure that you do your research before you go.
Carnival Cruise Line- You can buy wedding packages on any of the Carnival ships, however, the Carnival Spirit, Pride, Legend, and Miracle have onboard chapels. There are 2 packages to choose from, one for onboard weddings and one for in-port weddings. Carnival offers a registry for friends and family of the couple can contribute to their cruise, whether it be updating their room or a specialty restaurant for them to enjoy courtesy of their loved ones.
Norwegian Cruise Line- Norwegian also offers same-sex marriage ceremonies and has a selection of wedding packages. There are packages for weddings at sea, in-port or ashore. Prices vary depending on local authorities and marriage licenses are extra. Norwegian also offers a conch shell aisle or a fresh rose arch to shoreside ceremonies for an additional charge.
Royal Caribbean International- Royal Caribbean offers 3 packages for couples as well. Ceremonies at sea, in-port on embarkation day and ashore a destination in the itinerary. The cost for in-port marriages varies by location and what amenities that you wanted. Couples can choose from shoreside ceremonies in beach vacations, Europe vacations like Santorini, Greece or even exotic places like Alaska.
Holland America Line- Holland America ships cater to a more sophisticated clientele and attract mainly older couples looking to wed or renew their vows. When booking the “At Sea Symbolic or Anchors Away Harborside package and have at least 8 staterooms, the bride and groom get free stateroom upgrades and a wedding cake for their guests, plus other free amenities.
Cunard- Many couples are drawn to Cunard’s historic charm and British influence. The wedding packages include the ceremony and reception packages are available in addition to the wedding packages. The wedding packages include pressing services for the bridal outfits. Cunard only offers weddings o their itineraries lasting at least 7 days, and the ceremonies are only offered at specific times of the day.
